One of the perks of blogging is being able to make it work for your schedule.
Sometimes that means fitting it all into the bits and pieces of time left in your day. Maybe you’re stuck in the pick-up line at school or you’re waiting to meet a friend for coffee and have a few minutes to get something done.
And technology is cool which means you can blog from your phone, too!
These little chunks of time are perfect for the little tasks that can make a HUGE difference for your blog.
In creating this list I asked myself three
Because work for the sake of working doesn’t mean you are making progress. Honestly, the more you can get done during the day the faster your blog can grow.
And since I know how much we all like to make progress around here, I thought it would be helpful to create a list of blogging tasks that you can complete in 10 minutes or less on your phone! Let’s get to it!
You’re filling your Tailwind queue anyways, so why not keep it going on your phone?
Use the Tailwind mobile app to schedule some of your pins and a few from other people. A little work on this now will make light work for you later when you finally sit down at a computer to fill your Tailwind queue for the next week or two.
I get my best ideas when I’m not sitting down to blog. When I’m driving, on a walk or in the shower are some of my best times to get ideas.
Figure out the best way for you to store these ideas for later!
I organize all of my content ideas in Wunderlist. So, when I get an idea I jump into the app on my phone and type in the idea along with any thoughts about it at the time. It helps me keep my thoughts all gathered in one place!
I do a content brain dump a couple of times a week and using this helps me rapid fire the ideas.
The other way I brain dump is using the Siri functions on my iPhone. I’ll say, “Hey, Siri. Remind me to write a blog post called 18 blogging tasks you can do in 10 minutes or less.”
I like Wunderlist better but there is no way for me to use Wunderlist while driving, so Siri is the next best bet!
This one is one of the more fun ones! I bet you scroll through IG during your spare moments anyways, so you might as well make it productive!
A few ways you can engage with your followers is by responding to comments, delete or block negative comments or engage in the hashtags you used on your most recent post.
Check that blog task of your list!
We all get to a point where our DM’s are blowing up on social. And it might not be an everyday thing, but responding to people in your DM’s on Facebook or Instagram is a great way to build relationships with your audience.
DM’s are where the magic happens, folks!
Easy peasy. Pull up the Gmail app on your phone and respond to one of your most pressing emails.
Sometimes the weight of email can feel heavy and getting one off of your plate is sure to lighten the load a bit.
Everyone has an app now!
Use your few minutes to create a social media graphic that you can post to social media when you get another few minutes today!
I love to mock up ideas using the Canva app on my phone when an idea pops into my head. Then, when I get home to my computer I can put the finishing touches on it. Boom!
Depending on the aesthetic for your blog, you can take a few pics of your surroundings to use for your blog.
Finding photos for your blog on the free websites can get tough after a while, so mixing in some of your own pics can be a great way to extend the life of the stock photos you do have!
I’ve started experimenting with this feature a little more lately.
If you open the Google Docs app on your phone, you can use this feature. Open the app, create a new document and click in the document to start typing. On the keyboard, there will be a little microphone that you can press. When you press it, start talking.
Google will convert your speech to text as long as you keep talking. There isn’t a time limit on it like there are in some other apps.
So, if you have a rant on a topic or something that you really want to say on your blog, this is perfect!
Plus, if you struggle with sounding like yourself when you write your blog posts, talk-to-text is a perfect way to study your speaking patterns.
Blog comments aren’t quite as popular as they use to be, but they are still important.
They are still a great traffic source and the backlinking it provides to your blog
Just make sure that your comments are spammy and are actually meaningful. Don’t post a comment on a blog that you wouldn’t on your own blog.
Sometimes you just need a few minutes to do a little Google searching and digging through Pinterest for a blog post.
This is a perfect task to fit into a little chunk of time, especially if you have a habit of researching for hours before writing a post. Limit yourself to 10 minutes of intense research, get what you need and get to writing.
One of the cornerstones of blogging is writing to your email list consistently. You can at least start an email to your list in 10 minutes or less.
And, if you’ve already sent your email for the week you can get started on next week!
Not every one of your Live videos has to be scheduled. Sometimes a simple
This is similar to the last one. Instagram stories are one way for you to connect with your audience on a more personal level.
And the more you use IG stories, the more people expect to see you there. Use polls, question boxes and hashtags to help build engagement with them on both IG and other platforms.
As a blogger, you are always searching for ways to grow your business. Sponsored posts are one of the ways you can do this.
But it isn’t a good idea to cold message a brand and
When you tag, engage and interact with them on social media on a regular basis you become a “regular” of sorts. And when you warm them up to you as a person, they are much more likely to have a conversation with you about a potential partnership.
Would you rather work with someone that you just met and know nothing about or someone that you’ve been chatting with for a long time that LOVES your brand?
Searching for stock photos sometimes takes
Future you will be oh so grateful.
Not all affiliate programs are simple to apply for. But, I know there are some that have simple applications that only take a few minutes to fill out and send in.
Gold stars to those of you that have a little blurb saved to your phone that you can use to personalize the application.
Editing photos doesn’t have to take 100 hours. And sometimes all you need is to edit your next few Instagram or blog photo. Use apps that have
I personally love Lightroom the best!
Canva at it again! Marketing a major part of growing your blog and Pinterest is probably one of your main traffic channels.
Use the Canva app to create a new pin for one of your new or popular articles and then use the Tailwind app to schedule it!
That’s 2 tasks in 10 minutes for anyone that’s keeping score!
Keyword research sometimes feels really overwhelming. So breaking it down into little chunks can help you make a little more sense of it without getting overwhelmed.
