You can make them using the function in stories, but I’m a fan of using the app instead. You get a little bit more control over the finished product, which I’m always a fan of!

Boomerangs are just a fun way to add motion to your stories so you don’t always feel like you are talking at the camera or taking stills.

4. Hyperlapse

Hyperlapse is the app from Instagram that create time lapse videos.

This is an awesome tool for those of you creating stories or video content that happens over an extended period of time.

And time lapse videos make even some of the most boring situations high paced and exciting. Who doesn’t love that?

5. Live

Lives are just what they sound like and function the same way as they do in Facebook. So, if you have a Live strategy in place for Facebook you can try the same thing on Instagram!

And since video is an ever essential part of social media strategy, Lives are a great place to start.

6. Planoly

This is a tool that I talk about a TON, but it’s one of my favorite Instagram tools so I have to mention it!

Planoly is a scheduling tool for Instagram. But I love it because it’s visual and let’s me plan that way.

I’m an audio and visual learner and Planoly has been super useful for me.

Plus, Planoly is an approved partner of Instagram so you don’t have to worry about getting in trouble with the Instagram police!

7. Canva

We all love Canva, right? I mean, what’s not to love?

And since you already have an account up and running with Canva, you should use to create some fun graphics for IG!

There are a million different ways you can integrate visual into your IG.

You can make quote graphics. Or promos for days when actually being on IG stories sounds unbearable.

Your IG aesthetic is totally up to you and Canva can definitely be helpful in making it all come to life.

8. Unsplash

Let’s be honest: We don’t all have time laying around to take our own photos every single time we want to post on IG.

And there is no shame in throwing in some stock photos into your Insta strategy.

Seriously.

Because if the only barrier you have on IG is finding or creating images, worry not. Stock photos can take a little pressure off.

9. Creative Market

This is one of my absolute favorite places to find photos, templates and illustrations to step up the look of my freebies and products.

I studied graphic design in college and I LOVE illustration. It’s one of the things I like to do in my free time. But it’s time consuming and as much as I’d love to create more fancy illustrations and designs, it’s just not the best use of my time.

That’s why I love Creative Market. It is a website where designers and creators can set up shop and sell their work. And I’ll happily pay the designers on Creative Market for the love and time they put into their products!

I love that I can support other online business owners and get something the I need for my business.

Bonus: IGTV

I haven’t ventured into IGTV yet, but it’s on my list of things to do before the end of the year.

IGTV is the Instagram version of YouTube and a perfect place to get started creating more video content for your brand.

Video isn’t the future, video is now.

And IGTV has a low barrier to entry. You can create all of your content on a smart phone, no fancy equipment necessary!
